Bloop Recordings has become one of Europe’s most exciting electronic labels in its short 2 year history. With music from the likes of Anonym, Einzelkind, Bearweasel, Lauhaus, Seuil, Agnes etc, the label have built a formidable reputation for forward thinking A&R decisions, snapping up tracks and mixes from tomorrow’s hot property. For their thirteenth single release the label turn to the duo of DJ W!ld and Mr. K to deliver the awesome ‘Not Now, I’m Dancing’. Best known for his Catwash label and releases for the likes of Robsoul & Motivbank, DJ W!ld AKA Guillaume Duchastel takes the opportunity here to showcase his production talent and unique take on the sounds of house ably assisted by Mr K AKA Kova Rea. The single opens with the original version of ‘Not Now, I’m dancing’, a stripped and jerky slice of hypnotic tech house with the timeless sounding vocals of Mr K intoning the virtues of losing oneself in sound. This is a great recording that seems to marry an almost US inspired old school atmosphere with cutting edge European production qualities. Next up we have ‘Heart in Hell’ a bass driven slab of heads down house with broken percussion and subtle layered tribal vocal snippets, simple but devastatingly effective. First of the 2 ‘Not Now, I’m Dancing’ remixes comes from the pairing of Remote Area artists Julien Chaptal and Kabale und Liebe who turn their talents to creating a deep and jackin’ reworking that is pure class from the off. With its chopped and filtered vocals and rich melodic elements this has a truly classic sound to it and will no doubt be one of this season’s big records. Finally we have Anonym who delivers his ‘Discodancing remix’, an instantly engaging version with its filtered loops and spacious arrangement and one that is already receiving intense early DJ support.
